The Liberian Government has to effectively use both monetary and fiscal policies to restore the economy to its pre-war status. Restoring the Independence of the central bank is important to ensure that monetary policies are fully implemented to facilitate the effective operations of financial intuitions within the economy. The independence of financial institutions and free market system or so-called capitalistic system will restored investment trust and enhances the flow of credit from banks to investors at low interest rate. Low interest rate will lead to increase in investment, thereby leading to increase in aggregate expenditure and subsequently impacting Aggregate demand and aggregate supply which will increase GDP. Government could also increase infrastructural spending on schools, hospitals, roads and bridges and create employment opportunities for the unemployed. The goal should be
• Higher economy growth
• Lower unemployment
• Lower price inflation
• Avoid trade deficit |
