The United States has such a diverse population that these average statistics are very misleading. Most of the other countries are nearly a single race. Breakdowns by race for the various countries would be very informative.
For example life expectancy for the average population in the UK is higher than the average in the US. However when comparing only the white population the life expectancy is nearly the same for the two countries. |

"The figures shown here are only those acts of sexual assault that are reported to the police. In some countries listed here, women are afraid to report being raped in case the police see them as fair game for assault as well. Countries also differ in how they define rape: for example, some include marital rape in their rape statistics and others don't. It could be that the figures for Australia, Canada, Iceland and the United States among others are "inflated" as these countries may define rape more widely than others do."
So does Finland and other Scandiavian countries criminalize marital rape and... I don't know what is wrong with Canadians and Australians? |
