The attack took place on April 11, 2011, in Minsk (Belarus), when an explosion happened at a platform of the central Oktyabrskaya station, which provides the sole interchange between the two lines of the city's metro. The blast occurred ar 17:55 local time, which is rush hour in  Minsk, and trains were located on both tracks. At least 15 people were killed, and more than two hundred were injured.
