Facts and figures

Background:

Macedonia gained its independence peacefully from Yugoslavia in 1991, but Greece's objection to the new state's use of what it considered a Hellenic name and symbols delayed international recognition, which occurred under the provisional designation of "the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia." In 1995, Greece lifted a 20-month trade embargo and the two countries agreed to normalize relations. The United States began referring to Macedonia by its constitutional name, Republic of Macedonia, in 2004 and negotiations continue between Greece and Macedonia to resolve the name issue. Some ethnic Albanians, angered by perceived political and economic inequities, launched an insurgency in 2001 that eventually won the support of the majority of Macedonia's Albanian population and led to the internationally-brokered Framework Agreement, which ended the fighting by establishing a set of new laws enhancing the rights of minorities. Fully implementating the Framework Agreement and stimulating economic growth and development continue to be challenges for Macedonia, although progress has been made on both fronts over the past several years.

FYROM's history starts after the break down of Yugoslavia. Their slavic roots age back to no further than Byzantium.
Silly how they try to create a false past!

So what is it that you don't get? The Macedonia where Alexander the Great was from, is part of Greece now and has been since way before the establishment of your country which goes by the same name. The Greeks and us Albanians share Macedonian heritage. "your angered by the thought of Alexander Makedonski's Macedonian heritage." Alexander who? Now your giving him a Slavic heritage? Get your facts right, Alexander the Great was anything, but of Slavic heritage.

Thank you Fillipos for stating the truth. Marina, My country, Albania rescued 100% of its Jews in WWII. So don't question my on the issue of mass-murder. And to question me on Greece's and my country's great ancient ancestors, the Macedonians, and then attempt to sell yourself off as 'Macedonian' is ridiculous. By, referring to Alexander the Great as Alexandar Makedonski you are desecrating him and his people of whom lived and died spreading Greek culture. Macedonia is part of Greece, always was and always will be since King Phillip conquered the country. SO DO NOT DARE TRY USING MACEDONIA AS THE NAME FOR YOUR COUNTRY. THE NAME BELONGS TO A REGION OF GREECE. I do admit that I believe Greeks, Albanians, Latins, and Maltese are too significant to be considered "European". We Meditterraneans have way too much in common with North Africans and Middle Easterners to be lumped in with Europe.

Macedonians and Greeks were two different entities. Philip II (father of the Aleksandar III) conqured the Greeks, that's why Demosten(famous greek orator) spoke about him as a Barbarian. This is a fact that Philip was not a Greek. And for the language:in the ancient time Greek was widely spoken as international language, as it is English nowadays.

Alexander the Great spoke Greek not FYROM language that has only being around for the last 60 years. He conquered Persian and spread Hellenism not slav Macedonian. Can anyone tell me how to create my own language?
We can all leave in peace and happiness together, so please we know the truth and we also don't want the rest of your country!!!
