look at the department of state reports about TIP (trafficking in persons) and there's a solid breakdown with supposedly accurate facts. it's an annual report, so you can compare data from there...

Yeah, I wouldn't use these stats. The US ones are coming from sources that are many years old. For the most accurate crime stats, just check the FBI's website. Don't know about for other countries.

These figures are way out of date, 12 years old a lot of them.

If anyone wants trafficking reports for the United States regarding humans, here is a link:

http://www.state.gov/documents/organization/82902.pdf

BTW, If you are a student seeking information and not from this source you need to figure out how to use other sources. You are a student, you should know how.

What is the source for the stats? When listing the nations with the highest rate of rape, do they use only reported and documented cases? This is why it would appear that the West has more, the East not only does not report many of theses crimes but some do not even see them as a crime. So if these stats are based on 'official documentation' of rape, then many nations will appear to be 'the best' when in reality they are the worst because the women are raped and then if they report they are killed. And so they won't create a stat record.

I appreciate your efforts. It would be great to have a link to describe your data collection methods to assure validity. Without this information, the data on the site is useless to an informed person. In addition, information to discuss outliers and variables which impact data collection would help support your data. Simply tell us how you got to the data as it tells an interesting story about the "developed" capitalist world; not such a safe place.

I would like to see some comparison of under 18's versus over 18's in these numbers/ specifically violent offenses (rape, murder, assault, and robbery). All they not available??

Your numbers don't jive! I am comparing the numbers on the Murders by Country chart and Murders by Country with Firearms, and they don't jive at all. Look at those 2 charts and the numbers for South Africa and Thailand for example.

What's up with that?
