FACTOID # 140: In Switzerland, the average person has to work for 102 minutes to buy a kilogram of beef - one of the longest times in the developed world. On the other hand, they only have work 14 hours to buy a refrigerator for it.

Its amazing how ignorant the international opinion of Ireland and the Irish is. Within a 32 county Island, 6 are under british rule = NI. The british would love nothing more to hand back the economic headache that is NI supporting an increasingly diluted pro-UK population.
Ireland is proof of achieving peace through persistence, its not a perfect peace but things have moved forward.
The Irish, like most, have gone abroad and contributed.
But we lack the vision to build for 40-50 years like other countries, and have in effect blown an econmic period through excruciatingly painful waste of resources.....

Ireland histories is a long and bloody one for 500 years we fought the English and the other time fighting off other invaders through it all we still have our culture and to say UK and Ireland should be one is an insult to every Irish men and women. IRA is mainly British terrorist with Irish background they want north to under Irish control.

Ireland is the best country in the world

Now, I may not Know that much about Ireland and its wars, but this goes to everywhere in the entire universe and anywhere else:WHY CAN'T WE ALL JUST SETTLE OUR DIFFERENCES!?!? If we settle our differences and accept all people and religions, the world will be a better place. I hope this message has changed some people for the better.

That is the most absurd thing I've heard...i know that you won't even read this and i am hesitant to even leave a remark - but to say that Ireland has "remained neutral in the history of our civilization" is ringing true as the largest lie I've heard in a while. Neutral? IRA? What? North-East Ireland? Belfast? WHAT!?!

Well the far right figure is self identifying, we live in such a pc, consensus country that anyone who doesn't hold focus groups and babble shops and actually actually holds an opinion be it liberal or conservative could be forgiven for thinking that they were an extremist... sad but true.

I would like to point out that Northern Ireland remains a constituent part of the United Kingdom (and rightly so) to baby Green.

I found it very odd that Ireland is number 1 on the list for having a very far-right political view. Way odd.

My parents are from Donegal and I have had a fairly nationalist upbringing, but even I know that Northern Ireland, regardless of political viewpoint, is part of the UK (United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland). So, for the time being it is part of the UK and not a country in its own right, but one day, god willing, it will be back where it belongs.

Where in your encyclopedia could I find out about famous and successful Irish people or people of Irish extraction? I'd be very grateful for any help.

Why is "UK" printed in brackets across the north? Northen Ireland is not part of the United Kingdom ... and there's not even a kingdom anymore, even if they pretend otherwise.
Me too

To 'Me': That's a bit harsh - Ireland gives as much as you put in - my biggest complaint (bar the cost of living) is why are we so dirty (litter is such a big problem). Anyone from Ireland reading this - pick up your litter please.
