I understand that your information has been written to satisfy the average americocentric reader, but I'd love to supply some corrections to a few details... you can (and should) check them on any expert on European politics and contemporary issues.


"Rapidly increasing integration with Western Europe"

Finland is politically part of Western Europe - however you choose to define it - and has been since the world wars (no, we were not communistic in any phase)

"Finland was one of the 12 countries joining the European Economic and Monetary Union (EMU)"

In this, the Finnish position on the common-European currency Euro, it shouldn't be confused that Finland was in the monetary union from the beginning on, and hence didn't actually "join" it like for example Poland, Hungary and other former East-block countries

"will dominate the economic picture over the next several years"

European integration will probably dominate any picture in any European country over the next several decades.
