"Conservative clerical forces established a theocratic system of government" - No, the people of Iran did when they revolted, deposed the Shah and kicked British and American oil corps out of the country. |

I wonder why there is no mention of Cyrus the great, the founder of Iranian Empire, and the Achamenid dynasty. Of all he should be mentioned for every thing he has done for his country and for all mankind. For example, he wrote "The first code of human rights".
Thank you for your time,

I just wanted to say to those of you who are trying to create a civil war in Iran, Please stay out of Iranian politics and let Iranian people make a decision for themselves. When Bush stole two elections from Gore and Kerry, did any country interfere? People of Iran are clever and know what is best for them. The majority of these rallies are caused by Mojahedin (Traders) and shah's officers and left over of his SAVAK supported by American, British and France and other Iranian enemy.
People of Iran wake up and don't let the separatist take over your country. God Bless. |

Mr. Ghazanfari,
With all due respect sir, you can't change the country by attacking the religion. The fact of the matter is that Iran is a Muslim country, and it has adapted the Shia branch as its own since the time of the Safavids. In order to bring change to the country you have to adopt the religion as your own, then you can win the support of the people. Remember, the way the Mullahs came into power was because the Shah tried to faze Islam out of Iran and westernize the country, and the Mullahs are decending right now partly because they initially tried to wipe out the Persian culture. For any modern political movement to be successful in Iran it must adopt both a strong Persian and a strong Shia identity. Remember, the majority might abandon the clergy, but they will seldom abandon their connection to the higher power, and in Iran that is Islam. |

People don't live with dogs because Iranian say they are dirty. |
Taha 4th October 2005 |
To answer Sandy's question, some Islamic scholars consider dogs (or at least their saliva) to be "impure" from a religious standpoint and therefore frowned upon as pets, though they are permissble for guarding and hunting purposes. Cats are acceptable as pets. |

Hi sandy! There is a tabu about dogs, in some of peoples of Iran (not all), like many of tabus about various things all of the world. I live in Iran & love dogs, have at least 6 dogs, including dobermans, German Shepherds etc. excuse me for my poor English. |

You should have more information on the different branches of Militaries, like inventory, vehicles, that kind of thing, instead of having to piece all the little bits of information together. It takes too much time! |

Well Iranians have reconsidered their view on Islam especially after the Islamic revoloution, today we have a greater feeling that Islam and Poltics should stay apart and we fight to the ruling clerics to reach this aim. Islam is for Arabs not Persians. |
