To KORAY TER:
Turkey is NOT and never was part of Europe: Turkey is a Middle-East country, culture, race, religion which left some influences in Eastern Europe. It is NOT garanteed either that Turkey will ever become part of the EU as less than 10% of its territory is part of Europe.
Before allowing them, the EU will first deal with European countries/cultures like the Ukraine, Serbia, Moldova or even Russia... Europe goes to the Urals and ends in the western side of the Bosphorus.
For Europe to welcome Turkey it will/would mean opening the doors to exception- if the Turks were to become part of the EU than many other countries like Lebanon, Israel, Morrocco or Egypt may just as well become part of the EU.
Turkey has been very pro-west since Mustafa Kemal but decades of Westernisation do not erase millenia of an Eastern civilisation- and why should they anyway? For economic reasons it seems, mainly!
I don't quite understand why the Turks want to give up their own essence and copy another culture just because they may make them richer!?
I think it is very sad! |
