nice page; however, Turkey is more Asian than Middle Eastern - to be specific, Asian Minor, so lets stick with Asia.

@Sarah, please do your research!
Do you know anything about Turkish politics? Or have you ever heard about the terrorist group PKK?
Do you also know that real Kurds do not want to seperate the land, but this is just the plans of big economies?

There is no place like "kurdistan" and never will be (At least in a part from Turkey). Kurdistan is not exists in real. Mostly kurdish people are living in the east of Turkey. Some of them are even not paying bills but they are always complaining about : "We are hungry, the goverment is not paying to us. We want equality. We want to live like a human bla bla bla" And most of them are supporting terorism. I'm not saying all of them. But most of them supporting their guerilla team PKK.

there are meny ethnic groups obliged to name themselves as turkish in turkey. turkey is a multi-ethnic country that tried to introduce a "super-identity" under turkishness. however, assumed to be both ethnic and national identities, turkishness cannot be appropriate to define turkishness as an ethnic identity on the one hand, and a national identity on the other at the same time.

There are many ethnic groups that name themselves as Turkish. You can see Asians, Caucasians, Arabs, Greeks, Armenians, Bulgarians, and Jews naming themselves as Turkish.

Yes and no. Turkish people are Asian if you look at the origin of the Turks. But they have immigrated to Anatolia and during the Ottoman time, they have mixed with other nations. Therefore, Turkish people in Turkey are originally Asian but they are just caocasion now, since they have been mixed with different nations during the last 1000years.

All turks don't look the same. Turks were originally mongloid from Central Asia, who migrated and mixed with Persians, and then Greek peoples. Some Turks look very asian while others are more European. A lot are half Asian, Caucasion. Originally Asian with varied degree of Caucasion mix.
