Recently during the one-day NECP (National Employment Creation Program) introduced by the government last August, it was learnt that concrete efforts are needed to cub down unemployment rate currently 12% to 6.9% in 2010.
It’s estimated that over 700,000 of young people who graduate annually from institutions in mainland Tanzania, only 40,000 are absorbed into formal wage employment. |

Africa continues to be devastated by the HIV/AIDS pandemic, despite our collective commitment to combat it. African states has done much, but much still remains to be done. The statistics regarding sub-Saharan Africa that have recently been released show rising cases of infection, death, and orphans. Over 15 million adults and children in Southern Africa are HIV positive, and at least 5 per cent of them already have AIDS. The Maseru Declaration and its plan of action remain to be fully implemented. Many NGOs, INGOs and private companies are trying to address it with less success. The World should establish one common program or organ to deal with these problems worldwide. This program, project or organ is to coordinate all actors who are interested in eliminating poverty. Poverty goes hand in hand with HIV/AIDS. HIV increase the mortality rate, thus reducing the labor force as a result lowering the GDP. |
