do not know if this qualifies to be on notable puertorricans, however here goes, activist whos life involvement of gay community began in los Angeles as founding member of G.L.U.(gay latinos Unidos) which later grew to be gay and lesbian, latinos Unidos which was the base for the founding of what was to later become National LLego (Latino Lesbian and Gay Organization)upon returning to Puerto Rico help Organize/founded/incorporated Coalicion Orgullo Arcoiris an educational organization which held the first coming out day in Puerto Rico and now the gay pride parade. First representative from puerto rico at the Interpride Conference even thou in past had gone as representative of Los Angeles, California. Designed the Puerto Rico rainbow flag that even thou it did not get accepted in Puerto Rico at first in marched in the New york City Parade and the following Year on his own unfurled it in the San Juan parade and many wanted to be Flagbearers and the rest in now History. Photographer and writer for several of the local gay publication and currently founder and President of Centro de la Communidad Gai, an educational and historical center for the Gay and lesbian community in Puerto Rico. There are many other details such as participation in Publec hearing for human Rights, televison and radio talk Shows etc. |
