If you know of a poem by Robert Benchley titled "Lines on Opening A Letter and Finding Sand In It" and can direct me to a copy, I will be so grateful. I read it in one of his books (a collection of essays, mostly) around 1946 and have been looking for it ever since. It is a parody of some English poetry--the first line begins "Lycurgis from his moss-bedowered ----, brings asphodel to ----the starry sky". Please e-mail me at . 12/29/08 |
