Hi Aqeel, the source (with the date) appears at the end of the stats. But US trade statistics show that the country's balance of trade in military armored vehicles, tanks and tank components with Iraq increased from US$148,000 in the year ended December 2003, to US$2,652,000 in the year ended December 2004. The number of military tanks in Iraq must have increased accordingly!

There are no tech infos here and indian soldier quality matters more than quantity as is evident in the war on terrorism.

South Africa has 224 Olifant Mk1B/Mk1A and USA dosent have 21 000 tanks it has 7 900 tanks and if this graph is counting tanks and armoured vehicles USA has 29 000 and Russia has 48 000 armoured vehicles and tanks and that means that South Africa has around 4934 so this graph is completely wrong.(and I m only 14)

Are these stats just for Main Battle Tanks? Or are light reconnaisance vehicles classed as tanks for these statistics? For example the Scorpion and the Scimitar CVR(T)'s were often classed as tanks but are in fact just tracked vehicles.

What about the fact that technological quality varies so much nowadays? Lists like this are obselete as a country with 60 heavy tanks can have more firepower than a less expensive and more bloated military.
