This doesn't tell you what the statistics represent ?
For an example by looking at these statistics, how do you know if they are percentages, km, area etc. |

agricultural growth intrestingly is less in much bigger countries like india where there is large chunk of cultivable land available.. countries like uae, guyana have higher rate of agricultural grwoth as compared to their meat production.
recent reports states that govts in countires like pakistan, india are focussing more on service sector..another viewpoint can be...that when compared to the over all available land area percentage used for cultivation increases in smaller countries which does not reflect in this data. |

That does seem a bit strange...
Desert countries, (e.g. Jordan, UAE, Sudan, etc) having high agricultural growth rates... Especially with Kuwait. The Gulf war resulted in serious damge to Kuwaits ecology, due to the oil that was sprayed over the desert. I suppose though that growth rates are not always indicators of success. It's like with economic growth rate stats. Iraq and Chad of all places come close to the top, simply because all factories that were closed down during war/civil strife were re-opened and so the growth rate figures shot up. The stats need to regard only the total growth rate over a long period of time. Say, 5 years.
P.S. As this is a good website, I don't know why you allow people who can't spell their bloody names properly to post faultfinding comments on this site! Don't bother with them! |

Most countries with high growth rates in agriculture production have had small cultivated areas and are rapidly adding to this acreage through deforestation, overgrazing or bringing marginal lands under cultivation . China is the only notable exception among these. Third among nations with the largest cultivated and arable acreage , its use of technology in agriculture has been improving rapidly ¾ in terms of mechanization, such as use of tractors , and fertilizers . |
