Rape stat isn't rape at all. Only part.. 5th September 2012 |
"DEFINITION: People victimized by sexual assault" No wonder no one takes this page seriously.. |

Wow, what it is with you people with executions and dismembering? No arguing that raping is wrong and terrible, but if raping results om an immediat death sentence, what should the punishment for taking a life - torture and then death? The justice system is not only for punishment but also correctional rehabilitation. The punishment should always be equal to the crime, so if there must be a death penalty (which I don't think is needed), then it should only be available for murderers. |

This should rather be "the amount of rapist going to court". |
learn to think 11th November 2011 |
The highness of the rates has probably something to do with amount of the rapes actually reported. Someone who has been raped rarely actually goes to tell police about it. In the poor developing countries you can't even report it but it's part of the daily life. |

Kathy & Verner i tottaly agree with you on your punishments concerning this problem with rapetists. 1st offense should cut there "T" off 2nd should be the death penalty. I do believe if the rapeing still precists after that law then every logical women with a resonable descent background should be able to walk with a loaded weapon no questions asked. Theres alot of females I know that have been raped including siblings and my girlfriend. And most of them haven't reported it in including my mom. So im 100 percent with your comments. |

That's the consequence of your liberalism or absolute freedom, - don't moaning or complaining like a kid, it won't change anything, but accept it and start fixing it (to all friendly, kind, educated and open minded westerners) hehehe |
Offended male 23rd October 2010 |
I am a guy and some remarks by women stereotyping all male are too offensive. I was brought up upright. My parents thought me what was right and wrong and so I live by what I believe is right. I believe that rape is wrong. If they pass on a law that executes rapist then that's fine by me. I'm a law abiding citizen anyway. But talking about male like they are all the same that's not good. And what's with superior gender? I thought women are fighting for gender equality??? |
angel 12th October 2010 |
wow there's a lot of rapes but very few rape victims that don't makes sense |
Amy Becker 23rd August 2010 |
Kathy, you said " if they lost their testicles hopefully in a very painful way, rapes would stop almost the same day a few thousand males lost them."
I personally think it would be a million males who would lose their testicles but as you said, we can get along without those males anyway. |
Kathy 22nd August 2010 |
Cassie, I am glad your dads fiance taught you what rape means. I think it takes a woman to know this but in fairness, I think more males would like to see rapist executed than do women.
You said there are a lot of rapes in your area but if rapist were executed, the number of rapes would be very few. Of course there would be a lot fewer males too but that is OK with me.
As I said before, if they lost their T_____ hopefully in a very painful way, rapes would stop almost the same day a few thousand males lost them. |

cassie "my dads fiance taught me what rape means two years ago and showed me a graph in Port Orchard (where my mom lives)and it was very high. "
It takes a woman to fully understand what rape does to someone. That is why many of us feel women should be able to kill any man who is attacking them or our children without needing to worry about being charged for it.
I fully support Kathy's view on everything she said including "I personally believe a dead male would be far better than having a woman be forcibly raped."
I also think she is right on target with the reason we do not see rapist being executed (that the male population would drop too much)
I am not sure however that her saying that "we should start teaching males in grade school who the real superior gender is so they can learn to respect girls and women more." but I sure would love to give it a try. My husband said he would even like to see a book titled "The Natural Superiority of Women" be taught in every high school as it would help boys respect girls better. I of course agree with him except it should start no later than middle school. |

@Kathy "If you are looking for the person who has committed a violent crime, start looking for someone with T" "when a woman kills her attacker, once it is clear he was attacker her, the case should be closed. I personally believe a dead male would be far better than having a woman be forcibly raped."
Wow Kathy you sure do tell it like it is and you do not hold back do you? However even though I am a male, I have to agree with you. Because you are right about "needing to look for someone with T" as far as finding out who did violent crimes, I reluctantly have to agree with you on your conclusion too...."Perhaps we should start teaching males in grade school who the real superior gender is so they can learn to respect girls and women more."
It is rare to see someone with the courage to tell it like it is. |
Kathy 27th May 2010 |
If a male rapes a woman and is then executed for doing so, he will not be able to rape anyone else. I am not suggesting he be executed based only upon someone's word as I think there should be evidence he did rape her and that it was forced. Rape is not as much about sex as it is about control so Verner, you do have a point about more women will be killed if the authorities executed rapist so perhaps when a woman kills her attacker, once it is clear he was attacker her, the case should be closed. I personally believe a dead male would be far better than having a woman be forcibly raped. (I would prefer the method the woman in Sudden Impact used to kill her sisters rapist. She shot the offending parts and then waited a moment or two than shot him in the head .
Perhaps we should start teaching males in grade school who the real superior gender is so they can learn to respect girls and women more.
When we consider all violent crime it is usually a male thing. 90% of all violent crime is committed by males and oddly enough, other males are their usually victims. If you are looking for the person who has committed a violent crime, start looking for someone with T. |
Ela 25th April 2010 |
I live in Australia and you barely ever get anyone being raped. And Japan? No. That is like, the safest country. I think this list could be the countries with the least amount of rapes? |
Verner 25th April 2010 |
No, Kathy, actually executing rapist would cause them murder their victims more often, as they would have nothing to lose by then, but could remove a witness, thereby lessening their chances of getting caught and/or convicted. Solution is, let the victims kill the offenders. Shooting them works best. |
Kathy 17th April 2010 |
I have seen many news articles about young girls being raped, including a seven year old girl who was raped by seven males yet little is done about it. Why can we not get laws passed to execute any male who rapes a child and any male or forciably rapes a woman? Is it because they are afraid the male population will drop? If so, can we not get alone just fine without males like these? |
Quarup Barreirinhas 29th June 2009 |
Does this data show victims of rape regardless of when the rape occurred (i.e. not necessarily recently, as the title may suggest)?
These numbers seem pretty high, especially when compared to rapes per capita by country:
http://www.nationmaster.com/graph/cri_rap_percap-crime-rapes-per-capita
Why does the US rate high in rapes per capita and lower in rape victims? Does it mean the same rape victims are being raped multiple times more than in other countries?
Is the discrepancy a result of different sources? |

I am a Filipino living in Sweden.I am currently studying the Swedish language, and as part of the subject, we discuss and do some reporting of news, events, etc.I used to work in the Philippines in a non-government organization.Inasmuch as I wanted to inform the Swedish people about gender sensitivity and the like,i usually tackle the issues on rape.We are survivors, our family I mean.My brother's daughter was raped and murdered at a tender age of 10.Her only mistake was walk along alone a busy street coming from a church choir practice.July 16,2001, the exact date and violent incident happened in Tayug, Pangasinan, Philippines. The culprit is very much free.I am afraid there will be more victims. His family isn't cooperating and will not surrender this man.God bless them. |

No help for Victims of Rape & Abuse in Canada. WE HAVE A LEGAL SYSTEM WITH NO JUSTICE,
AND A CHILD RAPIST IN CONTROL
WHEN T. ALEX HICKMAN WAS ELECTED JUSTICE MINISTER IN SEPTEMBER 1966, IT STARTED A LEGAL SYSTEM WITHOUT JUSTICE, WHICH REMAINS IN PLACE TO THIS DAY.
Politicians names and faces change in Ottawa, Ont. and St. John's, Nl. but the Corruption continues to rule our country. I spent from April to October, 7 months, in Ottawa, on Parliament Hill, with permits, handing out 12,000 information sheets, and 7000 more in Newfoundland, about what happened to my family, and a sheet with each, on a Book about my family, PLAYING WITH THE DEVIL, by Martha Jetta, of Paranormal Books, and still no-one has resolved this INJUSTICE. A simple DNA test would see Justice served. The system protects itself, not the public.

If T. Alex Hickman, the Justice Minister and then Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, from 1966 to 2000, rapes and impregnates your 12 year old child, how do you get justice in this Province when the reports go back to the criminal who did the crime? I've reported this cime and other incest and abuse in my family, for more than 40 years, to all authorities and RCMP who ignored us as children, but they admit they still have 3 of my reports but won't release them. Many other reports of abuse were made by 3 sisters and one brother. We are left in Canada without even basic human rights or protection under Canadain Laws. No lawyer will represent us and the last lawyer I acked told me, if any lawyer, in this province, tried to represent you, it would be the last job they ever do as a lawyer in this province. The Legal System has done nothing to help, it's been completely controlled here by T. Alex Hickman, for 34 years and he still, in retirement, has control.
Please ask our Prime Minister, Mr. Stephen Harper, at pm@pm.gc.ca and ask our Premier, Mr. Danny Williams, at premier@gov.nl.ca to give our family justice. Visit our information website at http://maxpages.com/sexualabuse for seven more pages about abuse of our family, letters from family members and police statements, and no justice to this day. Mr. Prime Minister Stephen Harper, you said during the election you would put families as a priority on your Government Agenda, please help mine, in your letters to me you said you would. Visit our website and sign our guest book with your support.

Why Austria is so high:
Austria has a comparitavely high rate of reported rape due in a large part to the number of women raped by Russian soldiers during their short period of occupation, as well as rape survivors who were expelled from formerly german minority/majority areas further to the east. Germany never officialy recorded these crimes, mainly because they occured in the eastern occupied areas, which became the DDR (east Germany). As they weree a puppet government they covered this up. Austria is the only country which allowed women to officially report these crimes.
Similiar rapes also occured on a large scale in all areas occupied by the Russian army. Estonia, Poland, Lithuania however these were also puppet governments of the Soviet Union. When stalin was asked by his biographer to comment on all of these rapes he called them "a trifle." |

I personally have been raped, so I am not surprised. I do want to say that it's hard to go to the authorities, especially if you have been through the process. What can we do there's not that much support out there but when you do find it, it helps, yes. So may all that have been raped I pray that you will have the strenghth to tell. Be strong |
Alex 14th February 2006 |
It's interesting that an otherwise fairly peaceful, non-violent country (where gender equality is generally quite good too) currently is #1 for rape victims. I wonder if this is a true reflection of the situation or if it's due to a higher proportion of rapes being reported. Japan, where I live now, is supposedly has one of the lowest rates in the world for rape victims, but it's something that people don't talk about or report here. Anecdotal evidence and newspaper surveys suggest the problem is much bigger than the statistics suggest for Japan. I wonder what the situation is for other countries? (actual rape is always going to be much higher than reported rape in some societies) |
Meli 17th August 2005 |
Oh my God as a Kiwi I never knew we had such a high rape rate.... Although in a lot of countries its never reported so it wouldn't really be but that's terrible! |
