Canada and Iceland are especially high per capita because government policies have encouraged the use of electricity for space heating (i.e., keeping buildings warm). Iceland is a special case because of its geothermal energy: elsewhere, however, resistance space heating is a very poor use of electricity. But some governments have actually promoted it to create demand for electricity from dams and nuclear plants. For example, space heating usage was promoted and grew rapidly in France in the 1980s and 1990s as a way of dumping excess nuclear electricity ( http://www.greens-efa.org/cms/topics/dokbin/258/258614.beyond_the_myth@en.pdf ).

WOW!!!!! I live in the united states of america and i am shocked that we are number nine in the energy list (my daughter had a baby at sixteen). i live in alaska. i can see russia from my house. al gore is my good friend, he owns many rooms in his house. his pool is toasty hot. i am unable to capatalize my words because i cant find the capslock. this is me supporting the united wide webular system, we call the internet. Watch my alaska on tlc this fall.

What is the timeframe with this Consumption Per Capita?

Is it kWh per capita per year? Or kWh per capita per day? Or what?
