FACTOID # 3: Americans consume the sixth-most spirits, the eighth-most beer and the 18th-most wine. They’re also likely to view heavy drinkers as undesirable neighbors.

Czechs are the #1 beer nation, you better come to our country to learn something about beer consumption. Certainly more than 150 liters.

Italy is last in beer consumption with 29l but first in wine consumption with 60l per year (actually second after Vatican City, it is not a joke)

Czech rep is definitely on the first place there.is there anywhere a really recent top of the countries?even wikipedia is out of date, they show Romania with 58 litres/capita...thats like the amount we drank in the 90s http://www.zf.ro/zf-english/romania-enters-global-top-10-for-beer-consumption-3053140/

This data are complete fail. Last at least 10 years it's Czech Republic who is 1st in consuming most beer per person and here it's not even mentioned.

Wow here in Botswana drink so much beer the Gov imposed a 70% tax on alcoholics bevs. but that doesn't deter us ,it only means we'll have 2 take out loans 4 the next block party session.

First of all, the Czech Republic should be on the list and as #1.

Second, the people living in the south of Jytland (Jylland) near the border to Germany, consume at least twice the danish national average. The main reason being that WE buy beer in Germany at a price close to a 1/3 of the danish price.

do to the large waste of metal cans, most households in the south have recived an extra garbage bin, mainly for recycling metal cans, and glass and paper.

Yeah, Czech Republic not listed. Beer consumtion (2002) was around 159 litres per capita. Nowdays it's more than 163 litres. Take a look at this table from our national statistic service: http://vdb.czso.cz/vdbtab/tabdetail.jsp?cislotab=3004-05-02&stranka=0&razeni=ta&kapitola_id=14

Just two points.
1. I assume that by 'beer consumption by country' you actually mean 'per capita' you need to get this right if you're going to release lists of statistics on the net.
2. The people of the Czech Republic actually drink the most 'per capita' and I'm not sure if the Irish figure is quite 155ltrs either. This is fairly documented elsewhere, so I'd have to doubt the validity of the information on this site.
Sorry but if you put something up, it's going to be scrutinised.

Re: Canadian Beer
Have you been in a beer store in Canada? Many Europeans go on about the beer in Canada. I can go into a beer store in Canada and have a choice of many Canadian brands and most of the popular brands from around the world. As I have lived in Europe for 7 years in 5 countries I can say that the selection in most beer stores is domestic beer and a few brands from neighbor countries.Remember that it is Europeans who immigrated to Canada that built the country and adjusted their taste buds and founded most breweries. Maybe your are just not cultured. In the 21 countries that I have visited I have always managed to find a beer that was enjoyable to drink. My favorite being a Czech beer " Gambrinus" from the Urquell brewery.
And I have nothing bad to say about any beer from any country as I have never been forced to drink it. If you don't like Canadian beer, don't drink and stay in your own country!

Im live in Canada and was originaly appalled at the idea that Americans drink more beer than us, but, then I remembered that Canadians actually put alcohol in their beer. Cheers!
