Proves alot. I am a Japanese and I admit that we have alot of retards out there that claim and bash on other countries, especially the Korean people. Not everybody in Japan are like that, even Koreans know that Japan's favorite vacation location is South Korea and together Japan and South Korea can (already are) change and affect the world dramatically. But what pisses me off is when those Chinese scums especially those Taiwanese talk trash about other countries. Seems the chinks exceed by double if not triple.. yet they still look ugly. Proves those "Made In China'' quality applies to people's faces as well.. |

are these stats number of surgeries conducted in the country? or on the people of the country? |
Aus (Sydney) 16th September 2008 |
Korea can't be No.1. Korea is not rich enough, although ranked as upper-middle income countries, compared to other western countries. Plastic surgeries of any sort are generally not covered by national medical insurance which is true not only in Korea but around the world. You would have to spend a lot of ur own money to do that and thus you'd expect it to be popular in richer countries. |

You guys read this carefully:
" These statistics do not represent the work of every plastic surgeon in each country and this is why it is smaller than the numbers presented by National societies of plastic surgery. For example, in the US there are 6,600 members of ASPS, the National plastic surgery society, and only 189 are ISAPS members; In Brazil there are 4,400 members of the SBCP and only 144 are members of ISAPS"
So the stats above is only for the registered members of ISAPS. |

Where is New Zealand placed? |
JJ Worm (Gwangju) 4th May 2008 |
Sorry, H.N,
This proves nothing, for two reasons:
1.) Koreans lie more openly and honestly than westerners, and
2.) this survey was taken five years ago (since your comment, perhaps closer to six years ago for this one of mine). |

^ Well, as nice as that is.... the people jabbering about Korea being the most plastic country in the world never bother to fact check or cite sources so this stat is essentially useless in the face of all the uninformed forum/comment flamers. |

Korea might not be #1 in plastic surgery...but Korea seems to be proud of their plastic celebrities. |

I'm a student writing my thesis on aesthetic surgery and I would be very pleased to get some information about the frequency, amount and kind of surgery undertaken in different countries (above all in Switzerland, Germany, France, Italy, the USA, some South American and Asian countries). The date cited by NationMaster stems from ISAPS, but as they are rebuilding their webpage I can’t find them there. It would be very important for me to know more about the data: what kind of surgery has been summed up in the category “plastic surgery” (p.ex. is dentistry part of it)? Is it possible to get detailed information about how the study is made? Is it maybe possible to get the raw data for my own analysis?
I would be very glad to get an answer!
