Another stupid and meaningless statistic. For a start, we would have to know what kind of bread - i.e. the cheapest plain white bread or a gourmet wholemeal variety. What size of loaf? This shows that bread is relatively more expensive in Japan and the USA, because they are the two richest countries in the world. I believe that is because Japan and the USA don't incorporate a lot of bread into their diet, unlike in poor countries where it forms the staple, so bread is relatively more expensive in those countries. Also, it must be said that Japan has never had a tradition of bread making, since its carbohydrate intake has always come mostly from rice. |

Does this indicate that the purchasing power of the Pound is so high? Or do the Brits don't like or eat that much bread? |

is it because the bread is cheaper in UK or wages are more or money value is more or quantity of bread is less? |
