People scale themselves on the happiness scale on the basis of how happy they think others are!

In some cultures/countries it is seen as impolite/insensitive to say/think your not at all happy, as long as you are not starving from hunger, are not at war or your family/closest are not brutally murdered/homeless. The reason for this is, that the general view in those countries is that there are many people in world that are far worse off than they are and therefore they have no right complaining about life.
Some people might think certain thinks in life (big TV/house/a father/kids/money to drink as much coca cola as you want etc.) that make people happy. So if there are many people in the world without those things, while you do got them; then who are you to say your unhappy? This is the case in many (richer) countries.

So people scale them self high on the happiness scale, not because they are so happy; but because they think others must be so unhappy; that they themselves can not be anything else but happy.

Now I propose a research where you ask both
- How happy are you in comparison to other people in the world (because when asked how happy you are, you do compare yourself to others)?
AND
- How happy do you think other people in the world are?

(sorry for the length of my comment, but I read stuff about happiness scales before; and it just bothers me none of these researches takes into account that many people compare their happiness to how happy they think others are)

Aww, this is sad. I think Bulgaria should try and look at the positive outcomes in life.

Again. Finland has the highest suicide rates in every category, but still we are only 36th in this statistic?
