FACTOID # 1: Andorra has no unemployment, which is just as well because they have no broadcast TV channels either. What would everyone watch?

It would be helpful if the data were supplied for European OECD countries. Their survey is more complete - it includes Greece, Portugal and Spain - but the figures are markedly different. Maybe they relate to a different year.

It's amazing that in a society where there is so much work to be done and where everyone is always so "busy", we find the time to watch so much television. Just think of how much time we could gain and how much more we could get done in a WEEK if we just unplugged the tv for a while, or simply watched less of it (if that is at all posssible). I noticed when I got a television in my room, keeping up in school became more difficult. As soon as I woke up in the morning, I'd turn the tv on, come home and turn it on immediately, and go to sleep with it on. It became as routine as brushing my teeth and showering! Try turning it off for a week, just take one week and unplug the tv and see how much easier your week will be. I've found it affective so I do it once a month. Just to gain some time back:-) -*Rae

A very interesting set of statistics on TV viewing by country. Please can you confirm if they are based on the total population of the country or just the total number of people who actually watch TV?

In New Zealand - "On average, people watched just under two hours (119 minutes) of television or videos per day as a primary activity" - see http://www.stats.govt.nz/products-and-services/Articles/time-use-time-culture.htm
