This stat page has wrong details.

Other pages could be wrong too ... nationmaster.com is reporting fake stats to the world.

What about the fact that technological quality varies so much nowadays? Lists like this are obsolete as a country with 60 heavy tanks can have more firepower than a less expensive and more bloated military.

hardly what one would call a well documented overview, there seem to be some important countries left out and some basic research on internet and other sources show that the figures depicted here are not accurate.....

"some dude", sure, Japan have a lot of money and a lot of people. One thing they don't have a lot of is land. Where are they going to put 40billion dollars worth of tanks? (jokes).

Dan, Kais Ahmed and Chris-
If the statistics of particular countries cannot be obtained and/or confirmed, they wouldn't be put up on this website... Also, they could be using old information. It's now 2005 and most information deals with the 1985-2000 period. Remember, there's a /lot/ of information that needs to be obtained and confirmed. Keeping up-to-date records must be difficult.

Are these stats just for Main Battle Tanks? Or are light reconnaisance vehicles classed as tanks for these statistics? For example the Scorpion and the Scimitar CVR(T)'s were often classed as tanks but are in fact just tracked vehicles.

South Africa has 224 Olifant Mk1B/Mk1A and USA dosent have 21 000 tanks it has 7 900 tanks and if this graph is counting tanks and armoured vehicles USA has 29 000 and Russia has 48 000 armoured vehicles and tanks and that means that South Africa has around 4934 so this graph is completely wrong.(and I m only 14)
