What is the difference between the terms "Muslim Population" and "Number of Muslim"? For example Population is shown as 4,140,277 for the United States but the Number is shown as 6,000,000. The definitions of these terms would help. |

Alsalaam Aleekum (May peace be upon you) brother Raj. I can sense that you are exerting your doubtness over these statisticss, however, the source is CIA World Factbook and to be identified as muslim you have to beleive in there is no God but God and Muhammed is the prophet of God. You are right there could be groups of Islam but they all withold the same distinctive main ideology. Furthermore, factions exist in Christianity, Hiduism etc etc so by implicating the same logic to other faiths, you can still put the so-called islamic groups at great numbers compared to groups of other religions!!. The only doubt I would put on such figures is, considering the world population growth is at 2.3% and the Islam population growth is at 2.9%, if the CIA World Factbook figures are not up to date (2009) then both the number of muslims as well as their share of the total population should be higher.
May peace be upon you all

fairly accurate numbers, it seems. the ideology is not the same. besides most of them are non- practicing. so stats have their limitations. how many are muslims by name, and how many by calling, nobody knows, except Allah. |

How accurate are these numbers? Is the Islamic ideology and the sort the same in various countries? |
