Taylor,

Just because Koreans call something theirs, it doesn't mean it's theirs. It's the Sea of Japan. Get over it.

Russia, Georgia and Armenia should not be subsumed under 'Asia'. They should either, as someone already proposed, be part of 'Europe', or form a separate 'CIS' group.

To all those wishing to talk about the Urals and 'continents', surprise! - geologically there is only a continent called EURASIA, of which Europe is a peninsula. Also, part of Iceland is on the North American plate, and India is a separate plate altogether!

Considering that countries on this site are grouped into 'regions', three things should be realized:
a) The EU, EEA and prospective members do not hold a monopoly over the term 'Europe'
b) the Russian state originated over 1000 years ago in what is called 'Europe', over 85% of Russian population lives in what is called 'Europe'
c) to this day, Russia and what is understood to be 'Asia' are two distinct regions. Historically, economically, culturally etc. Russia is overwhelmingly similar to 'Europe'.

There is therefore little to no basis for lumping Russia together with 'Asia'.

Well, this website is pretty good, informative and truly factual compared to other infosites which just take you to confusing pages but never take you to what you really ought to know. This website is great, but still I'd wish they give more up-to-date researches on the population statistics. Thnks,kk;;; :)

The Aryan race only spreads until south Asia/ Burma(Myanmar), for the people who are wondering. Nepal, Bhutan, Uzbekistan, Myanmar, Afghanistan, some of India and middle east are mainly Aryan-mongoloid origin. Thailand and Indo-china and the countries to the east are all Asian origins but the Filipinos are diffrent as they have heavy Latin influences.

I don't care what the accepted traditional "dividing line" between Europe and Asia is. Before there even was such a thing, the Himalayas were the original accepted dividing line. Jeff, your definition of Asia is plainly ridiculous to say the least. Greeks, Arabs, and Turks are usually considered European. Not Asian.

4th July 2005
Guys,
The countries of the Arabian penninsula and that part of the Eastern Mediterranean region are considered to be a part of Asia, not Europe or the African continent. Why are they not on your map? Also, where are all the countries of Southeast Asia (Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, Myanmar, Malyasia, Indonesia, Singapore, The Phillipines) on your map? Finally, for Timur, Russia is a part of both the Asian and European continents. The accepted traditional "dividing line" between Europe and Asia in Russia is the Ural Mountain Range. The Russian cities of Moscow and St Petersburg are in Europe, while the Russian city of Omsk is in Asia.

13th June 2005
Hey, you've left out the entire Southeast Asian region from your map! You could at least have included the SE Mainland since it's part of the continent. All the same, Southeast Asia, whether mainland or archipelagic, is still geo politically, anthropologically, historically part of Asia. If you don't agree, you may as well leave Britain and Greece out of Europe.

Eural mountains are the border. however back when it was the USSR , it was only in ASIA , after Russia "found" democracy did it span to Europe on all maps. some of you who insult Americans who made this site, might want to learn better English to do so, or just stick to your native tongue.

Why is Russia in Asia? You may of course list it both in Europe and Asia, but historically Russia is firmly in Europe. The Ural mountains is the dividing line.
