Located along the Persian Gulf, it also controls Masfut and Manama, two small, inland enclaves that are primarily agricultural. Ajman, located a short distance north-east of Sharjah’scapital city is the smallest of the seven emirates in terms of its physical size, occupying only about 0.3 per cent of the country’s total landmass.
Ajman’s central square where the old fort, now a museum, is located, is within walking distance of hotels, restaurants and coast.
Ajman also has two inland enclaves: Masfut is an agricultural village located in the mountains 110km to the south-east of the city, whilst Manama lies approximately 60km to the east.
Ajman City Centre mall is another shoppers’ destination with international and local retail shops to cater to a diverse range of tastes.
History is evident throughout the emirate as in the example of the old watchtower at the town's entrance, and the large fort in the town's centre.
Ajman Free Zone, established in 1988, it was granted autonomous status under the Amiri decree no. 3 of 1996 issued by H.H. Sheikh Humaid Bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Ruler of Ajman.
