It is just north of Uskudar but shares little of it's charm. Recent building projects including the construction of a large shopping mall have made it an attractive place for people to buy apartments especially as Umraniye is on a direct road that leads to the bridge linking Asian and European Istanbul. A car ride from Umraniye to Mecidiyekoy for example may only take around 20 minutes in good traffic.
