History

1PW was formed at the beginning of 2005, with the aim of becoming Britain's number one wrestling promotion (hence the name). It soon attracted big-name stars such as D'Lo Brown, Matt Hardy and Abyss. All seemed well until, based on fan reaction, World Wrestling Entertainment re-signed Matt Hardy, who subsequently canceled all his independent wrestling dates. 1PW lost its main draw for the night, (although the promoter insisted to the fans with days to go that Matt Hardy would be appearing even though he knew that Hardy would not) and, with that, a lot of casual fans and the show name (WWE trademarked "Twist Of Fate").
