Holland America 1055 under construction (1021 words)
During the tour, I had the chance to take a walk through HALX 1055, one of four Holland America cars which are in the final stages of construction in anticipation of their March, 2004 delivery.
The 1055 is a B car, with an outdoor observation platform in place of the larger dining room.
Car 1054 is similar in design to the 1055, but lacks the end observation platform.
Wolf 1055 AB / Van Biesbroeck's Star (1236 words)
The Wolf 1055 system is located about 19.2 light-years away in the north central part (19:16:55.3+5:10:8.1 for Star A and 19:16:58.1+5:9:11.1 C~ for Star B, ICRS 2000.0) of Constellation Aquila, the Eagle -- north of Delta Aquilae, west of Altair (Alpha Aquilae) and Alshain (Beta Aquilae), and southeast of Zeta Aquilae.
Wolf 1055 AB are flare stars, like UV Ceti (L 726-8 B) shown flaring at left.
The distance from Wolf 1055 A where an Earth-type planet would be comfortable with liquid water is less than 0.084 AU (without accounting for infrared heating), with a "year" of less than 14 days.
