On December 3 the Supreme Court invalidates the result of the recent presidential election, calling for a repeat of the runoff between Yanukovych and Viktor Yushchenko, to be held on December 26.
A runoff is held on December 26, and Morozov is elected governor with 52.8% of the vote against 20.6% for Barzhanova and 25.1% against all.
