The aim of the English department is to foster an appreciation of literature and language within and beyond cultural contexts, to cultivate critical thinking skills that will engender autonomous but responsible actions, and to develop the writing proficiency required by the wide range of careers and graduate work for which our program prepares its students.
Prerequisites: COMM 1510 or 2110 or ENG 1750 or consent of instructor.
It is thus peripheral in relation to French literature itself, and pluralistic, given the geographic distribution and history of the various Francophone regions.
