During the latter half of the 19th century the musical practices in the Church of England in Canada paralleled those in the mother church in England, though they were tempered always by the essentially pioneer character of Canadian life, with sharp differences between urban and rural areas.
The RCCO continued to support church music of all denominations, and the Anglican Foundation, a funding arm of the national church, provided scholarships for beginning organists which is encouraging a renewed interest in the instrument.
