The singing of psalms, without the use of instrumental music, was enjoined under the Old Testament, as a part of the ordinary worship of God, and it is distinguished from ceremonial worship.
Instrumental music, in the worship of God, was not practised by the primitive christians, as is evident from church history.
It is evident then, that instrumental music formed no part of public worship in the services of the tabernacle, as no instruments of music were made by divine appointment, and Moses was forbidden to add any thing to what was commanded by the Almighty.
