PRESS RELEASE - Intel Ireland marks National Tree Week by planting Native Tree Arboretum (499 words)
Mary Keenan, president of the National Tree Council of Ireland was at the event in Intel, "It is wonderful to see the initiatives that are talking place during tree week and I want to commend Intel for taking this bold step and planting 28 different species of native trees, 84 trees in all.
Jim OHara, general manager Intel Ireland, was delighted to do the honours from the Intel perspective especially as he was one of the volunteers from the Site Committee (group of nine senior managers) who planted the trees, "We continually strive to demonstrate environmental leadership and this is our fourth year to mark National Tree Week.
By 1900, less than one percent of these woodlands remained, and although progress has been made in restoring forest cover, Ireland stands today as one of the least wooded countries in Europe.
