Art was nominated to drive the car and this was the beginning of a racing career that took him to tracks all across the country, including four races at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

In 1991, Mariann Barnard became the professional director of the Quincy Art Center, (as it was by then called), and she was replaced by Julie D. Nelson in 1994.
The Art Center is supported in part by membership fees, contributions, grants, and proceeds from fund-raising events, the most notable of which is the annual Beaux Arts Ball, initiated in 1933.
The Quincy Art Center is ranked #1 among Art Centers outside of Chicago by the Illinois Arts Council.
