European Athletics is pleased to announce that three (3) applications have been received for both the European Athletics Indoor Championships 2011 and the SPAR European Cross Country Championships 2009.
The cities of Gothenburg, Sweden, Leipzig, Germany and Paris, France are bidding the host the European Athletics Indoor Championships in 2011 while Bydgoszcz, Poland, Carcassonne, France and Dublin, Ireland are vying for the right to host the European Cross Country Championships in 2009.
The Championships are the jewels in our crown and are a vital platform for European Athletics to communicate our messages and value around the continent and in these six cities we have the tradition, expertise and leadership to continue to raise the bar of our championships."

Fermín Cacho Ruiz (born February 16, 1969) is a Spanish athlete, winner of 1500 m at the 1992 Summer Olympics.
In 1993 at Stuttgart in World Championships, Cacho finished second, but won the 1500 m title at the European Championships in Helsinki in the next year.
He won the bronze medal at the 1998 European Championships in Budapest, and finished fourth in the World Championships at Seville in 1999.
