The 1976 Republican National Convention was held in Kansas City, Missouri at Kemper Arena from August 16 to August 19. The convention nominated incumbent Gerald Ford for President, and Robert Dole for Vice President to replace Nelson Rockefeller. However, they won barely over California governor, Ronald Reagan by 117 votes. (1187 to 1070)
