The Montreal Canadiens defeated the Los Angeles Kings in the 1993 Stanley Cup Finals, 4 games to 1. It was the Montreal's first trip to the Finals since 1986, while it was the first-ever trip to the Finals for the Los Angeles franchise in its 26 year history. After losing the opener at home to the Kings 4-1, the Canadiens put together a string of three consecutive overtime wins, to lead the series 3 games to 1. In game 5 on June 9 in Montreal Forum, the Canadiens won 4-1 to clinch the franchise's 24th Stanley Cup. Kirk Muller scored the game-winning goal. The Canadiens also set a playoff record with 10 consecutive overtime playoff wins. Patrick Roy was awarded the Conn Smythe Trophy as Playoff MVP.
