The 1996 Democratic National Convention took place in Chicago, Illinois. It was a fitting place as it is the birth place of First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton.


The Democrats nominated President Bill Clinton, and Vice President Al Gore for reelection on the first ballot.


Keynote Speeches were given by Senator Bill Bradley of New Jersey, and Governor Evan Bayh of Indiana.


Clinton and Gore went on to defeat Senator Bob Dole of Kansas and Jack Kemp in the 1996 Presidential Election.
