2002 Foster´s Australian Grand Prix (1731 words)
Ferrari very sadly had left their New Goddess, the F2002, at home, and maybe exactly for this reason they had a fantastic Australian Grand Prix: The complete front row of the grid and Michael Schumacher´s 54th win, fighting hard against the dingos Montoya and Raikkonen, who can learn a lot from the fourtimes world champion.
Mark Webber is the first Australian Grand Prix driver since David Brabham back in 1993, and worldchampionship points in a maiden Grand Prix are very, very rare.
Team principal Paul Stoddart and his driver entered the podium, when the first three were in the international press conference, and in their hands they had the Australian national flag, champagne and a toy kangaroo.

THE fact that Michael Schumacher won the 2002 Australian Grand Prix was not extraordinary.
Minardi is now an Australian-owned team and Webber is an Australian driver and so the fact that he finished fifth — one of the best debut performances of the modern era in F1 — was good reason for much rejoicing.
Eighth at the end of the first lap the Australian debutant was pushed back to 10th as others recovered from the early delay.
