The Hockenheim racetrack, home of the German Grand Prix, is located between Frankfurt and Heidelberg, but I was first on my way to Stuttgart as Mercedes-Benz had invited a group of Formula One journalists to tour its museum.
The rules then said that Grand Prix cars could not weigh more than 750 kilos (1,650 pounds), but the Mercedes W25 that was due to race in the German Grand Prix was slightly overweight.
ItÂ’s been a hectic summer with seven Grand Prix races in 10 weekends, but F1 is now taking a break with the next two weekends off before action resumes Aug. 15 at the Hungarian Grand Prix.
