Despite all of the distractions about Hurricane Katrina since it rocked the Gulf of Mexico, most noteably, Louisiana on August 29, 2005 LSU still managed to finish its season with an 11-2 record capped off by a 40-3 victory over a strong University of Miami team in the Peach Bowl without its starting QB, JaMarcus Russel. The end of the game, however, was marred when some Miami players rushed to the LSU tunnel and started fighting. The Arizona State game was originally a home game, but when Hurricane refugees were using some of LSU's buildings as shelter, the NCAA moved the game to Tempe, Arizona despite that, LSU was still the "home team." LSU won the game 35-31 keyed by 2 blocked punts for TDs. Their first home game came on primetime against Tennessee. It was moved back to Monday on September 26th because of Hurricane Rita.
