The 15th Asian Games Opening Ceremony was held in Doha, Qatar on December 1 marking the start of the 2006 Asian Games. The ceremony took place in the mult-purpose built dollar Khalifa International Stadium, the stadium was specificallly renovated for the Asian Games. The ceremony was attended by over 50,000 spectators, 20,000 atlethees and performers including Asian heads-of-state with the President of the International Olympic Committee Jacques Rogge in attendance. The officals and organizers of the ceremony promised it to be the most spectacular Opening Ceremony in recent years.
