2300 Jackson Street was the final album released by American band The Jacksons. For most of this album, Jermaine, Jackie, Randy, and Tito Jackson comprised The Jacksons. Michael Jackson had left the act in 1984 to continue his successful solo career, and Marlon Jackson followed Michael out of the band the same year. Michael and Marlon appear only on the title track, along with their other four brothers, and their sisters Rebbie and Janet (middle sister LaToya was, at the time of this album, estranged from the family and therefore does not appear on the song). The Jacksons decided to enter new territory by working with New Jack Swing producer Teddy Riley on "Nothin' (That Compares 2 U)" with vocals sung by Randy and Jermaine. Riley also produced the title track. The album's title and cover photograph represent the Jacksons' boyhood home in Gary, Indiana. 2300 Jackson Street received some notice in R&B venues, but was largely ignored by pop audiences. Sigmund Esco "Jackie" Jackson (born on May 4, 1951 in Gary, Indiana) is an American singer and musician, formerly member of The Jackson 5, and is the oldest son in the Jackson family that includes American pop stars Michael Jackson and Janet Jackson.
Jackson left a promising career in baseball to pursue his passion for music with his brothers.
Jackie released his solo debut in 1973 to capitalize on the Jackson 5's franchise the same way that younger brothers Jermaine and Michael had done.
