24 Oras ("Twenty-four hours") is the current flagship primetime news broadcast of GMA Network in the Philippines. Launched in 2004, it is one of the most watched news programs in the country. The program airs live around 18:30 (+8 GMT) nationwide. It is also broadcasted through GMA Pinoy TV. Aired during weekdays, the program airs on extended special coverage of breaking news during the weekend. In 2004, the program pre-empted the network's election special to cut into primetime programming. On 1 December 2005, the coverage by 24 Oras of a siege of Camp Bagong Diwa was mentioned in the best news programme category in the Asian Television Awards in Singapore. The first reformatting of the program was implemented in May 2006, with a new opening ident and an updated graphic set. The program also moved to a new set, with floating large rear projection screens that allow the anchors to virtually "talk" to correspondents in live feeds, similar to the CBS Evening News and CNN's The Situation Room. The use of the white screen was adopted from TV Patrol World. Pia Guanio hosts the showbiz news segment of the program, "Chika Minute". Nationwide Ratings

In the January 15, 2007 issue of BusinessWorld, a local broadsheet containing Business reports, AGB-Nielsen Media Research, the official ratings provider, released for the first time the official results of its Nationwide Urban Television Audience Measurement. The NUTAM was officially launched last October 16, 2006 to determine the TV ratings and audience share of local TV Programs from the different urban areas in the Philippines. The Nationwide Viewing Panel results for the week ending January 6, 2007, showed that in terms of individuals, 8 out of top 10 programs came from ABS-CBN with TV Patrol World being in the 8th place with a rating of 13.9 and an audience share of 45.4, while 24 Oras was in the 10th place with a rating of 13.2 and an audience share of 41.7. In terms of households, all top 10 programs came from ABS-CBN with TV Patrol World being in the 7th place with a rating of 28.1 and an audience share of 46.6, while 24 Oras did not make it in the top 10.[1]
