U.S. Highway 278 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (267 words)
U.S. Highway 278 is a spur of U.S. Highway 78.
Old US 278 was routed along what is now Business 278 until 1998, when a new toll road was built for it.
US 278 is co-signed with a state route in its entire Georgia route, as are all U.S. highways in the state.
3-digit Interstates from I-78 (1459 words)
In 1972, possibly as a result of the northern extension being cancelled, the Sheridan Expressway was renumbered I-895 and the I-278 designation was moved to its present location.
Though some parts of I-278 seem to have been built centuries ago, the oldest part of I-278 is the Goethals Bridge, built in 1925.
Originally, the section of I-278 between I-895 and I-95 in the Bronx was called Interstate 878.
