2SM's programs are heard across the 2SM Supernetwork in regional New South Wales and Queensland, consisting of 32 AM and FM stations. Many of the criticisms aimed at the Caralis network is that fact that so many programs are sourced from 2SM (or New FM Newcastle, in the case of some of the FM stations), and are often unpopular, compared to programs from Southern Cross Radio (such as John Laws) and 2GB Sydney (owners of NRL broadcast rights). However, it has been recently announced that some of the AM stations will carry Lawsy's show, in areas where Macquarie Regional RadioWorks have dropped the program in preference for their own. MILESAGO - Radio - 2SM (Sydney) (6474 words)
2SM rapidly gained popularity with youth audiences during the wave of Beatlemania in ’64, thanks in part to a coup scored by DJ Bob Rogers, who won the exclusive right to accompany the Fab Four on their tour of Australia.
For the next six years 2SM reigned supreme in Sydney and it was without question the most successful station in the history of the industry.
The song's airing was galling to commercial radio, and particularly 2SM, who had to regularly censor or ban tracks at the behest of its owners, the Catholic Church, and it predictably drew howls of protest from commercial radio, FARB.

2SM may not rate well in Sydney but it is the hub for his 33 regional stations, which reach in excess of a million people in country NSW and Queensland.
All programming is networked from 2SM (freeing him of the need to pay hefty syndication fees to 2UE or 2GB), via his own satellite on the roof of his own impressive four-storey building in Pyrmont, which alone might be worth $40 million.
Bell would be keen to run 2SM as a music station, alongside his troubled talk station 2UE, in order to attract more advertising.
