The 2nd Gurkha Rifles (The Sirmoor Rifles) was a British Indian Army then British Army regiment.

History

During the Sepoy Mutiny the regiment defended Hindu Rao's house for over three months, losing 327 out of 490 men.


The 2nd Gurkha Rifles served in Malta during the Russo-Turkish War, 1877-78.


The regiment is part of the Brigade of Gurkhas.
