Encyclopedia > 3KND

3KND (South East Indegenous Media Association Inc).

3KND was one of the later entrants into the temporary community broadcasting period in Melbourne, as part of the lead up to the granting of four additional community licences for the City.

KND represents the aboriginal communities within Greater Melbourne, and was granted the only AM licence available for community radio at that time. The 1503 frequency had been previously vacated by 3AK (Now SEN) as it moved to occupy 1116 AM. SEN may be short for: SEN 1116 Small extension node Software Engineering Notes Special educational needs State Enrolled Nurse This page concerning a three-letter acronym or abbreviation is a disambiguation page — a navigational aid which lists other pages that might otherwise share the same title. ...

From the 3KND website:

3NKD, Melbourne's first Indigenous owned and managed AM radio station, hit the airwaves in June 2003.

Some people say 3KND is long overdue as a voice of Melbourne's Indigenous community.

It's required 13 years of discussion, contemplation, proposals, meetings and a lot of hard work.

Five years have now passed since the first test broadcast in 1998 and the South Eastern Indigenous Media Association (SEIMA) had to beat 22 other aspirants to get the licence.

Now 3KND is here, and with it comes entertainment, information, opportunity and a dedicated channel in the spirit of the community!

In other words, 3KND was well worth waiting for!

3KND was licenced at the same time as 3JOY (Joy Melbourne - Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender community), 3TLC (Triple 7 / Light FM - Christian radio), and 3SYN (Student & youth radio)

Mr Rinaldi stated that the intent of the words was a resignation and this was consistent with the decision in Minato v Palmer Corporation Ltd [(1995) 63 IR 357 at 359] regarding an intent to resign.
[10] Mr Edwards gave extensive evidence in relation to the operation of 3KND, the role of the SEIMA Board and the two telephone conversations he had with Ms Armstrong including the brief telephone conversation when she rang him to tell him that she and Ms Munro were "walking".
The removal of her name from the foyer area also supports the view that she had left her employment and did not intend to return.
