Cuno is about 4-9 km in diameter and is an S-type asteroid, meaning that it is highly reflective and composed of nickel-iron mixed with iron- and magnesium-silicates. Cuno Hoffmeister (February 2, 1892 - January 2, 1968) was a German astronomer.
Cuno Hoffmeister founded the Sonneberg Observatory and discovered approximately 10.000 variable stars and several asteroids.
Hoffmeister crater on the Moon is named after him, as are the asteroids 1726 Hoffmeister and 4183 Cuno.
